From Silicon Valley to PDX's Silicon Forest
Meet Jeanne Koepplin, the former Cupcake Queen of Silicon Valley and new owner of PDXOXO Cupcakes - the newest and hottest cupcake company in Oregon.
Jeanne’s success expanded while she was at Intuit’s California campus, where they served up over 500 employee meals a day. Intuit quickly recognized Jeanne’s natural leadership skills and when they found out she wanted to start her own cupcake company, they invested in her venture and helped her realize a dream. Polka Dotz Mini Gourmet Cupcakes went on to serve Silicon Valley Royalty such as Google, Apple, Netflix, Intuit, eBay, Western Digital, and much more!
Jeanne’s passion for food and knack for creating happiness at mealtime was obvious from a young age. While her siblings were outside playing, it was not uncommon to find Jeanne in the kitchen with her mom. Jeanne studied nutrition at West Valley College, and went on to manage Valeriano’s, a popular Italian restaurant in the Bay Area. Aside from being one of the managers at Intuit’s kitchen and starting Polka Dotz Mini Gourmet Cupcakes, she also owned and operated Wild Sage Gourmet Catering.
The idea to start a cupcake company and go solely in that direction, came out of the blue when Joni, Jeanne’s twin, suggested it in passing while they were standing in a bakery. Call it a “twintuition moment”, but something about that idea filled Jeanne’s heart with an overwhelm she had not felt before. She started baking, perfecting recipes, and sharing her creations at Intuit where she was working at the time. The moment she thought to start a cupcake company, the stars aligned and Intuit magically stepped forth to help her realize a dream that, at the time, Jeanne didn’t think was possible.
Fast forward to the pandemic. While the entire world was forced to shut down, a sudden jolt hit Jeanne’s life and business. But because everything, everywhere, was quiet, it was as if time stood still just so she could hear a bigger vision tapping gently at her heart. Jeanne moved to PDX and her first stroll around Dawson Creek Lake solidified her reason for being there.
PDX is going to be the home of her best-selling line of Burnt Almond Cupcakes and this place was going to put her unique flavor profile on the Cupcake Map.
Jeanne’s carefully curated menu of time-tested flavors and the passion to grow it into the biggest cupcake flavor brand on the market today, burst open organically. She knew from the numbers during her Silicon Valley days, that out of the hundreds and sometimes thousands of cupcakes ordered in a single day, it was her Burnt Almond Cupcakes that customers could not resist and kept coming back for. It was more than a flavor; it was the feeling customers got when they ate them.
Today, PDXOXO Cupcakes is set to become an anchor dessert tenant in Silicon Forest and its owner, Jeanne Koepplin, wants to be make a positive impact in Hillsboro’s retail marketplace and the greater community.
